- Yona of the Dawn Vol. 1 – 4 Stars – I picked up this manga on a whim, and since shoujo manga is my normal go to I wasn’t really expecting much from it. But it really surprised me with how enjoyable it was, and there is plenty of room for it to continue to get better too. I’m looking forward to picking up the second volume at some point.
- Circe by Madeline Miller – 4.5 Stars – I absolutely loved this one. I’m a big fan of mythology, and an even bigger fan of mythology reimagined from a woman’s perspective. So often our oldest stories have that male-dominated skew to them, and rarely ever do we see women portrayed in thoughtful ways. This does that and more. It highlights flaws and strengths and shows the heroes in a more realistic light.
Now
- A Swirl of Ocean by Melissa Sarno – This was sent for review and though I’m just in the beginning portion of this, I’m enjoying it. It is magical realism though, which is one of my least favorite things, so I’m hesitant but I am loving the focus on dealing with changes in life.
- Dragon Ball Vol. 1 – I’m finally giving this series a shot. I’ve seen episodes of several of the series, so I’m familiar with it but I don’t really know the entire story and I’m curious to see where it all began.
I love mythology- I need to read that so bad!
It’s great to find a new manga series to like. 🙌🙌🙌
I’m not really a mythology person past reading classic accounts of gods and goddesses, but the more I see Circe the more I am warming up to reading it. 👍✨
Thanks for TMTing. 💜✨
It’s one that I recommend the audio on as well. I listened to it and read a long, and I rather enjoyed the narrator.
