What a week! It started out pretty standard, but the ending had some changes that I have left me exhausted and partially excited for. We are planning to start a new DnD group in addition to our home game, so we did a bit character creation yesterday evening which was fun. I also started helping my brother’s girlfriend with her work to keep me somewhat busy during the week while I’m trying to find work.
The weather has been utterly miserable the past few days, with it being rainy. It was somewhat warm (60’s) and now it’s freezing cold with rain and wind. I’m so ready for spring.

Mixed Race, Half Enough? – Kristen Simmons – This this an article that Kristen wrote in response to someone accusing her of writing a mixed race character simply to earn “brownie points” for having diversity in her books. Kristen is mixed race, as am I, and I find that this article really captures some of the complexity of being mixed race and the odd microaggressions we encounter, especially when don’t outwardly look like what society thinks mixed race people should look like. It’s a good read and offers a new perspective.

Thanks for sharing the Kristen Simmons article- definitely sounds worth a read! And happy Sunday!
Ooh, thanks for sharing the article. I read her Twitter thread a month or two ago about this – at least, I think it was her, because that’s essentially what it was about.
D and D is fun. My husband and I are starting to teach our son the basics. 🙂
The Kristen Simmons article was a good read. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for sharing the article! Hope you have better weather next week.

I don’t know any people of a mixed race in my life, so it’s eye-opening to see things from a different perspective. Kristen Simmons’ article is really thought-provoking, thanks for sharing! Also, Lisburn Zwerger’s illustrations for The Tales of Beedle the Bard look wonderful and cosy. Will have to check out her work.
You’re welcome! I love reading articles about others’ experiences so I thought perhaps others do as well, and it’s kind of rare to find an article about being biracial.
I really love the artwork I’ve seen from her so far, and I’m really looking forward to digging into Tales soon.
