It seems like I will never write these at any time other than 2am. I lose track of days very easily so I tend to forget what needs to be done without a visual aid to keep me on task. (Which I don’t have at the moment clearly)
I’m in the middle of the the Christmas at Hogwarts readathon, which started yesterday. So I’m getting some reading done finally, so hopefully I’ll polish off some of the lingering TBR books I have from the year.
Not That Bad edited by Roxane Gay -4 Stars✬✬✬✬: This was a collection of essays from a wide variety of people regarding their personal experiences within rape culture. It’s a very tough read and it can be graphic in areas, but I think it’s a necessary one. I won’t be doing a full review on this one, because I barely feel comfortable rating it let alone doing a detailed review on it. Trigger warnings for sexual harassment, misgendering, and sexual violence.
Obi-Wan & Anakin by Charles Soule – 3.5 Stars ✬✬✬✬: This was a pretty nice little glimpse at part of Anakin’s training, which we don’t see a ton of in the movies or the tv shows. I liked seeing his struggles with patience and emotion in more detail, as well as Obi-Wan’s on struggles to be the teacher Anakin needs.
In the Vanishers’ Palace by Aliette de Bodard – 2.5 Stars ✬✬: I really wanted to like this because dragons AND f/f romance, but in the end I was mostly just confused and detached. The writing style is odd and I had issues connecting to it, and there were areas where the writing felt very off for some reason. The descriptions were kind of bizarre as well.
Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco – I am going to finish this one if it’s the last thing I do. This and one other book have been sitting in my ‘currently reading’ shelf on GR for MONTHS. So I’m going to tackle the audio I got from the library and get through it, I am enjoying it I just had issues focusing when I picked it up before.
