Top Ten Tuesday: Backlist Sci-fi Books I’d Like To Read

Top Ten Tuesday

That Artsy Reader Girl

These are some backlist science fiction titles that I definitely want to get to at some point! Maybe even this month if I am feeling the urge.

  • Foundation by Isaac Asimov – This is one of those sci-fi classics that are a must and I really want to get around to it. Asimov is a giant in Sci-Fi and it’s kind of upsetting I haven’t made time for him yet.
  • I, Robot by Isaac Asimov – Another one by Asimov that I really want to read. I’ve seen the movie years ago and enjoyed it, but I need to sit down with the book.
  • Gemina by Amie Kaufamn & Jay Kristoff – I started this when it came out, and put it down for some reason. Definitely, need to pick it back up since book one has one of my favorite lines ever in it.

  • Winter by Marissa Meyer – I’m terrible at finishing series, even those that are among my favorites. I own all of the books in this series, got them all signed…and then never finished it because if you don’t finish it then it technically doesn’t end.
  • Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie – I got this last year and never touched it, but I’ve seen some great reviews for it.
  • Sphere by Michael Crichton – This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and I remember desperately wanting to read the book but here we are 23 years later and I still haven’t read it.

  • Leviathan Wakes by James S.A. Corey – I’ve heard that the tv show is great, but as I’m not a huge fan of tv I’m opting for the book eventually.
  • The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi – I bought this as a cover buy when I saw it for $1, and it’s been on my shelf for a few years now.
  • Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne – I tried reading this in 5th grade because of the movie Sphere…I quit because I had no idea what half the nautical terms meant. I think it’s time to try again.
  • Mass Effect: Revelation by Drew Karpyshyn – I adore Mass Effect and Karpyshyn’s writing, but I haven’t had the chance to enjoy both at the same times.

I wasn’t that interested in the James SA Corey series until I started watching The Expanse. It’s really good and now I’m thinking of tackling the books! Sphere is one I’d like to try- I love the concept.

I haven’t read much Asimov either actually.

Great list! I really need to check out Ancillary Justice and the Illuminae books. I love The Lunar Chronicles, I hope you enjoy Winter when you get to it! 🙂

  3. 20,000 Leagues is intense with the science and boat talk. I had a hard time understanding it, too. I hope you enjoy all these!

  4. I want to read, I Robot. I can’t believe I didn’t read it in college. 🚀

  5. I am a huge fan of Asimov so I will say please pick Foundation soon. I have Ancillary Justice on my TBR too. Need to get to it soon.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed it, leave a comment and tell me what you think.
