Sunday Post #304

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Happy Sunday everyone! I’m so glad it’s the weekend, but kind of sad it’s almost over. I got a ton of reading done these past few days, as I had a few review books to tackle for dates coming up this week. I grabbed two of The Great Library series books on netgalley after being invited, thinking it was book one and two….but it was book one and four. So I had to binge read the entire series. Heh. It was nice to get back into reading again though.

This week has been increasingly trying and I find myself cycling through stages of extreme anxiety and anger. Our hours at work have been cut, and we got a single week’s notice. I am trying not to allow this to get me down, but I feel like every time I get close to making progress on getting my own place something like this comes barreling out of nowhere. I just wish I had been given a few weeks noticed at least. I’m not upset about my hours so much as I am about my boyfriend’s, who took a larger hit. We’ll make it through, but it stings and I’m trying not to take it personally.

But here’s to the weekend! And for the upcoming holiday! I could use some BBQ right about now.

Books Read

  • Parable of the Sower by Octavia Bulter
  • Empire of Silence by Christopher Ruocchio
  • Ash and Quill by Rachel Caine

Last Week

  1. Oh no! That totally sucks that your hours got cut with such short notice. Hopefully things will be more mellow there from now on. Have a good week, and happy reading! 🙂

Sorry to hear about the work issues. That does suck, especially with such little notice. It is hard to get ahead these days, life in America seems to get tougher and tougher. Hope you get some BBQ this week though- I can’t believe it’s almost 4th!

Ooh I’ll have to check out that Han Solo one, I don’t think I’ve seen it!

Sorry to hear about your week, I hope this week will be a better one for you at work. Your new books look great. 🙂

  4. Sorry about your work hours… I hope it gets better soon. My boyfriend is freelance and he depends on hours, so I know what that means. Have a good week!

  5. Sorry about the work hours. That sucks. Enjoy your BBQ. I hope you have a good week!

  6. (((((((HUGS))))) about the work hours decrease. I think we are seeing the first glimpses of the actually tRump economy. My son’s hours were cut at Big Lots, too. He was going to have to cut them when he went back to school in September, anyway, but it would have been nice to have the extra money from June, July, and August. I think the tRump supporters will finally start to see it, too, but it’s too bad their ignorance has to affect the rest if us. 😞

High fives for all around for the reading though! ✋✋✋

Have a wonderful, and less stressful, week. 🌞

I really need to try an Octavia Butler book. I wasn’t a huge fan of the first book in the Great Library series. I guess it just wasn’t what I’d been expecting/hoping, so don’t know if I’ll go back and read on. Have a great week!

I didn’t realise The Great Library book 1 was available at Netgalley, is it only through invite? I borrowed the first 3 from library yet to read it as I haven’t been reading much lately.

    Have a great week!
