Sunday Post #294

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer.

Ah, what a week! We started working out in earnest now that we have our rec membership, and I am so tired. We’ll most likely be back at it either Monday evening or Tuesday. The big 24-hour readathon ended this morning, and I think I did a pretty decent job this time around despite sleeping too long and being sluggish all day. But I did get back into reading this week, big time! I’m enjoying it again and even typed up some reviews this weekend. I started a fantasy/sci-fi book club on Litsy and it’s grown quite a bit, right now my member list has 25 people. Our first book hasn’t been chosen yet, but we will be voting on Tuesday from the nominations. I’m equal parts excited and scared. It’s my first time running a book club. I had a few odd…social issues this week that remind me how awful I am at being a functional human sometimes. I kind of live by a script, I know the role I play and how to do it…and when someone goes off script I get really upset and my brain just shuts down. My cat’s convenient ended early last week, and he has been calmer thankfully. Still insane at times, but definitely not as angry as he was prior to his surgery.

Books Read

  • Fire and Fury by Michael Wolff
  • A River in Darkness: One Man’s Escape from North Korea by Masaji Ishikawa
  • I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara
  • Bridge of Terabithia by Katherin Paterson
  • Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco
  • Rage by Richard Bachman
  • The Wicked + The Divine Vol. 6: Imperial Phase Part 2 (Graphic Novel)

Last Week

Homeland by R.A. Salvatore (4 Star Review)

Aw glad the cat’s doing better! And wow your book club is growing! Should be fun hopefully… good luck w/ it.

I was kinda tempted t read Fire & Fury. My reading’s been slow though, maybe this week it’ll pick up (probably not but maybe ha ha).

  2. Maree says:

Good luck with your book club, and have a great week 🙂

  3. I am quite jealous, I wanted to participate in Dewey’s but unfortunately I got a migraine and some kind of flu mere hours before the readathon which made me really disappointed. I’ve still tried to read today but with the headache, I’m really struggling 😦 Hope you all enjoyed yourselves.

Does anyone know when the next read-a-thon is? ANY read-a-thon?

  4. Jenea says:

You book club Really is growing, congrats. I’m glad the Dewey readathon was a successful for you. Enjoy all the new books and the week coming up too.

  5. With the recent arrest I really want to read I’ll Be Gone in the Dark by Michelle McNamara!

  6. I picked up A Study in Charlotte too, but haven’t listened to it yet. Good luck on leading a book club. I’ve been thinking of starting one through Meetup. But I probably won’t because I’m so busy that I don’t have time to read books I choose for myself, let alone books other people choose for me. I do have one informal book club, but sometimes we don’t even read a book – we just hang out and talk about them.

  7. Glad your cat is now free and better tempered! 🙂

  8. How did you like A River in Darkness? I nabbed it when it was free. 📚

You did read a lot! In case you don’t go back to check your Dewey’s post, did you see you won a prize? 👍

    Have a stellar week. 💜

    • I did see, but thank you for coming here to tell me! I’m glad I just happened to look at that page on a whim after it was over.

River in Darkness was pretty good but it’s heartbreaking and straightforward. It’s also very sort, so it goes by relatively quickly

  9. First time coming across Litsy. Shall go and take a look.

  10. Daniela Ark says:

Glad to hear your cat is doing well and that did good at the readathon and are enjoying reading again! Good luck with running your book club. I’m sure it’ll be great!

  11. How would I find your Litsy club? I think I might like to join, although I still don’t have the hang of how group reading works on Litsy 🙂
I also kind of messed up my readathon cause it doesn’t work so well when you’re away on vacation xD glad you did well!

    • You can find at my page InLibrisVeritas and the book club using the tags #bbbbc. Group reading is mostly done using the hashtags and those who run the readalongs or book clubs tend to post updates or discussion posts along the way

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed it, leave a comment and tell me what you think.
