Tell Me Tuesday #51

Hosted by La La in the Library

  • Waking Gods by Sylvain Neuvel – Finished this one and loved it! I’d say it wasn’t as good as the first one but still really really good. I had a few things I was slightly sad about but I was still really into it and love the whole direction of the book.
  • Descender Vol 1: Tin Star  – This turned out to be quite good! It has stunning watercolor artwork and a pretty great story as well, and I’m really looking forward to finding volume 2 and seeing how things will turn out for the group.
  • Lumberjanes Vol. 5: Band Together – We get an art change (bleh) and a somewhat throwaway story. It’s still enjoyable but it’s definitely not the strongest Lumberjanes book.

  • A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab – I started this forever ago but had to return to the library and I just never checked it back out again. So now I have the audio and I’m blazing through it. So good! I adore Laila Bard, I want to be her (minus the attachment issues)
  • The Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien – I read Of Beren and Luthien this past weekend, which is one of the highly recommended stories and it’s definitely a favorite of mine. It was by far the most accessible of the stories too. There were geography chapters and so many pronouns were being thrown around that my head was spinning.

Currently Watching

  • Naruto Shippuden Episode 301 through 306 – So far no completely awful episodes so I think I’m due for one soon. I seriously can’t wait till I see episode 500.

Currently Playing

  • Overwatch – The free trial happened over the weekend and I actually really enjoyed playing it. Normally multiplayer games make my heart race in the worst way, but I did pretty well and managed to have fun. Tracer and Moira are my current faves.

  1. I still need to read A Gathering of Shadows! Ha ha. I am going to see if my library has the Descender volumes; the coverart speaks to me. 🎨

Have a fabulous holiday and thanks for TMTing. 💜

I haven’t read The Silmarillion in SOOO long. And Lumberjanes I kinda wanted to continue with, but just haven’t yet. Glad waking Gods was mostly good!

    • Lumberjanes is such a relaxing read. It reminds me of the show Gravity Falls which is always good at making me smile.
I’m finishing the Silmarillion today and I’m sad that it’s over. I can already tell I’ll need to do a reread at some point though.

I haven’t read the Silmarillion but have been meaning to forever. Maybe a 2018 goal. What do you think of the news that they are making the LOTR books into a movie series?

    • I’m somewhat torn when it comes to the new tv series. When I first heard about it, people said it was a reboot and I was kind of upset. But it seems to be a prequel story, so I think I’m okay with it. But I honestly just don’t know what to think. There is so much they can get wrong and I just want them to treat it with respect and not turn it into something entirely different.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed it, leave a comment and tell me what you think.
