Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. ~ Inspired by the meme In My Mailbox.~ It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

I got sick with something new this past week! First it was an allergic reaction to the antibiotics and because I’d been on it for over a week my immune system crashed and ended up getting some flu like virus. I’m feeling slowly better but I still have a cough and a little bit of back pain…but it’s been touch and go. As a side note I’m so freaking tired of soup. Because of this on going bad luck I had to miss out on the Rogue One opening night showing, so maybe sometime in the next week! I have to start wrapping gifts this week…mostly because I’ve been hoarding them in my bedroom so people can’t see and it’s getting hard to walk. I’m also going to try my hand at wood-burning this week as well hopefully, as we’re making dice boxes to use to roll dice in and carry them if we need to.

RP Night Recap: We picked up right before we reached a clearing where the darkspawn have camped. Thorin does his sneaking thing, I do mine…and make a ton of noise. We find one human still alive and well taken care of, which is bad…because it’s a woman and they are feeding her as they feed themselves. They planned to use her as a broodmother, which is how the darkspawn breed. Unfortunately the get a whiff of the clumsy trudging woman that I am and battle ensues. The dice rolls were magnificent for the first half of the battle…but the moment I had to defend myself against magic, critical fail. In retrieving the head of our mark (the spawn in charge) we find that he has a control collar and with some sleuthing we figure out that there is an inside man within the town. So the walk back begins, but we run into my old merc pals and their frustrating leader. I explain the situation to them and was about to hand off the head, when they turned on me completely. So I’m at less than half health surrounded by three people, two of which are basically family. Due to some quick and rash thinking on Thorin’s part (because I was freaking out) he destroys the head so no one can take the contract, and after some rather curt words they stand down and my friends’ sheepish follow her. We grab another head from some random spawn, put the leaders crown on it and head back to town. We quickly let them know we finished the mission, got them in a room and I took out the inside man (which was a shapeshifter). Now we’re being detained because we sort of just barged in and killed a guy’s dog who turned out to be a full sized man. My character is so ready for a nap…

Ah that sucks that you got something… hope you feel better. I haven’t seen Rogue One yet either and it’s driving me nuts! Must. see… and I want to talk spoilers with all the humanoids *cough lucky people cough* that have seen it, but I’m AVOIDING spoilers so… yeah. Ergh.

Lol at broodmare, that’s awesome. Sounds like a pretty pitched battle which are always fun. 🙂 And switching out spawn heads… one is as good as another right? Ha ha sounds like a fun session.

Star Wars Catalyst bored me but I hope you like it. I am super geeked for Rogue One so I’m not trying to be all down on it, and it’s not BAD, but it didn’t blow me away. that could just be me though.

    • I will get better at some point…hopefully. I need to see that movie and I really don’t want to be a plaguebearer to all the other people in there.
The session was a lot of fun, but it became emotionally taxing because of whole friend betrayal thing. I was growling by the end of the night, lol!

James Luceno has a very dry writing style. I enjoyed Tarkin, because it sort of fit his character and also because Tarkin is one of my favorite characters from the original trilogy (those “are you done” looks he gave Vader were perfection), but I kind of know I won’t enjoy this one as much as some others.

I like how in A New Hope it’s Tarkin who basically tells Vader to stand down, and Vader obeys. By the time Empire rolls around Vader seems to be top dog and untouchable, so I don’t know if somehow Tarkin as a Moff had a certain authority over him, or he was just a badass in general (that’s probably it) but I love that he had Vader’s respect.

Sorry to hear you’ve been sick Michelle and I hope you’re on the mend now.

It sounds like you’ve done a pretty good job with your Christmas shopping though, so you’re ahead of me on that front!

  3. I’m sorry you’re still sick. I hope you get better soon!

  4. Sorry you had to miss the Rogue One first showing. I hope you are feeling 100% soon. Have a better week. 🙂

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed it, leave a comment and tell me what you think.
