Sunday Post (216)

Sunday Post

The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. ~ Inspired by the meme In My Mailbox.~ It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.

This week has been pretty low-key compared to last week. I’ve spent a good deal of my time reading and sleeping because I don’t have the mental stamina to do much else right now. Today we’re supposed to be heading up to Kennesaw for a comic book run and so I can trade in some books, and hopefully have enough store credit to get a few Harry Potter Funkos without spending very much money. The last time I went I had enough credit to get 3 Funko Pops for only $2. So I get make room on my bookshelves and complete my HP collection while not spending any money, win-win.

Books Read

  • American Born Chinese by Gene Luen Yang (Graphic Novel)

  1. Greg says:

Yay for Funko’s! I don’t have any but I like seeing people’s collections. How did you like Invisible Library? I liked that one, not perfect but it had some cool concepts.

Nice Flix Friday post, I thought stranger Things was cool too. It cracked me up when they actually called the monster Demogorgon lol. Talk about 80’s references.

    • I really enjoyed The Invisible Library. It definitely wasn’t perfect but it had some really fun elements to it.
I loved that Dungeons & Dragons was a big part of the kid’s dialogue. I’m normally not big on 80’s movies, but this brought about a surprising bit of nostalgia that I didn’t know I had tucked away, lol.

  2. I’ve only got 3 Funkos so far but I really want more! They are expensive for what they are though, so I’m making myself wait till Christmas when I can ask for some as presents.
    Hope you feel better soon.

    • I have…too many at this point. I have over half of the Harry Potter Funkos, and several others from movies, tv shows, and video games. I’m out of space to be honest, so I only grab them when I spot a hard to find one for cheap or if I can get it for free or half price.

  3. It’s been a while since I’ve stopped by, but gosh that Funko Pop bargain sounds amazing! Mental stamina, I like how you describe that. Enjoy your books Michelle!

  4. Dark Matter and Serafina is doing the rounds. Would still love to read both. Wishing you a great week! Here’s my Sunday Post: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/08/the-sunday-post-you-have-no-idea.html

  5. Wow, you are lucky. The bookstore that takes in trades here only allows store credit to be used on books. I am looking forward to seeing what you get. I am happy to hear you were able to get some reading done. Have a terrific new week. 🙂

    • It’s 2nd & Charles, which I think is a Books-A-Million store. I would normally take my books to another used store for credit, but seeing as my financial situation is getting worse I’ve just started taking big hauls of books to them and I can use it for anything in the store and it’s full credit, so no 50% off stipulation.

  6. Funkos are really cute. I don’t collect them because I already have more little shelf trinkets than I need, but they really are cute.

Uprooted is amazing; I hope you enjoy it. And thanks for the reminder about the new Serafina book. I just requested it from the library.

    • I wish I had enough sense not to started the Funko collection, but I love them too much to even think about stopping at this point. Though I am limited what I buy.
I’ve only read a few pages so far but I like what I’ve read! I’m excited to get around to it.

  7. I’ve never seen funkos here in Switzerland, Michelle… not sure I’d have room for any, though… I don’t even know where to put my books anymore 🙂
Great haul, I hope you’ll enjoy your new books.
Have a wonderful week and happy reading.

    • Aw, that makes me sad. I really love them. I’m not a crazy collector that buys all of them, but I have a list of those I really want. I’m only really devoted to collecting all of the Harry Potter funkos. They don’t take up a ton of room unless like keeping the boxes…and then you run out of room quickly.
      Thank you for stopping by!
