The Sunday Post is a meme hosted by Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. ~ Inspired by the meme In My Mailbox.~ Itβs a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.
It’s been a pretty good week, or it was I should say. Our 10th anniversary was Wednesday and we spent it at home, vegged out with a couple of pizzas, cake, and movies. We had planned to go out to dinner, but we both ended up sick from too much cake so we’ve postponed that. We’ve both been playing a ton of Fallout 4 and Battleborn this week as well…but we’ve both sort of fallen off the whole walking/running thing and need to get back to it. The heat is almost too much though. I can stand it being hot, summer is my favorite season, but the humidity can get so bad that it makes breathing hard.
Books Read
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by JK Rowling
I’ve also been reading through a bunch of kids books, but there is just no way I’m going to list all of those here.
Last Week
Monday: Kismet’s Kiss by Cate Rowan (Audiobook Review)
Tuesday: Tell Me Tuesday (What I’m Reading)
Thursday: Twisted Bond by Emma Hart (Review)
Friday: Flix Friday
Haul
- The Sable Queen by Brian Jacques (Purchased)
- Rough Water by Melissa Pearl (Purchased)
- Black Beauty by Anna Sewell (Purchased)
- The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain (Purchased)
- The Call of the Wild by Jack London (Purchased)
- All but Rough Water were purchased from a thrift outlet store called Ollies. The Penguin clothbound classics were all under $5 (normally about $15) and look brand new and since I’ve wanted to collect them I decided to just go ahead and buy them.
Happy Anniversary! (again) You need to go running at the ass crack of dawn while it’s still cool. Have a great week, Michelle!
I know! I’m just so…lazy, heh. I always think about it, but then I just turn my alarm off and go back to bed.
Happy anniversary! Yay for pizza and cake lol. And yeah it’s a lot harder to exercise when it feels like a sauna out.
Ooh Huck Finn. I don’t know if I ever read it, I know I did Tom Sawyer. That’s a nice looking edition. So is The Call of the Wild actually… love that cover.
Thank you! I always get the two books confused, they have a really similar feel to them that sort of makes them indistinguishable from each other (at least to me). They are quite nice in person.
Happy 10th anniversary! The call of the wild has such a nice cover.
Thank you!
Happy 10th anniversary! YAY for eating too much cake π I think that’s a good way to celebrate π
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading.
Thank you! It was definitely worth being sick!
Happy belated anniversary and it sounds like your celebrations were perfect. The cake sounds delicious and – of course – you can go to dinner any time!
Happy Anniversary! I wouldn’t mind eating too much cake either π then of course you HAVE to run π Have a great week!
Ooh! You’re about to read Redwall! I can’t wait to hear what you think about that book!
Little man and I are reading HP now too. I’m surprised at how much he’s enjoying it (he’s only 5). Can’t wait for the next illustrated edition to come out π Redwall?! I loved this series as a kid. I need to start buying them and reading them with my son. I know he’d enjoy them. Hope you have a great week π
My Sunday Post
I am happy you got to spend your anniversary doing things you love, but it sucks that you got sick afterwards. I put off getting back out to power walk after winter was finally over because it had been so rainy and cold and now I wished I had braved it because it went straight into hot and humid. Yuck. The Redwall books bring back memories. I think Sebastian read nearly all of them. I only read two. Hehe. Have a wonderful week. π
It was a really great day. It’s been so hard to get myself back up to start walking again. I’ve read most of the Redwall books, but I think I stopped on book 14 or so. I really miss them, so I’ve been buying the ones I’m missing each time I find one cheaply. Hopefully I can make time to get back in to them. It’s a really fun series.
Happy anniversary! That’s too bad about missing your dinner out but I’m a big fan of staying home and eating too much cake! Love the Mark Twain and Jack London covers! I’m reading Tom Sawyer this year. I’ve seen it in play form several times but somehow have never read the book. Have a great week!
Happy Anniversary, cake and pizza sounds amazing!
That was a great price for the clothbound, they are really expensive over this side of the pond.
Have a good week!
Happy Anniversary! Pizza and cake, what a great combination.
Wow, that sounds like a pretty perfect way to celebrate an anniversary. I remember reading the Redwall series as a child, I just reread the first one a little while ago. It can be quite an interesting experience to reread a book you loved as a kid!
Go out some where….talk inside a sauna and get relaxed π Cheers..Happy Anniversary
