Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Heroines

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week it’s all about the strong female characters! These are in no particular order, because they are all amazing in their own right.

luna1. Luna Lovegood – Order of the Phoenix  – I love Luna, I love her attitude and her style. I love her desire to see the good in the bad, but not be afraid to go after the right thing even if it means danger.

2. Sybella – His Fair Assassin series – I love the first two books in this serie (have yet to read the third) and I adore all of three of the ladies in this series but Sybella is my favorite. I love how fierce she is.

3. Cress – The Lunar Chronicles – Cress is a fun heroine, and a lot like Luna in that aspect. She’s not the typical sort of hero and her people skills are on the low end, but she’s so bubbly and she tries her hardest even when the situation is completely new to her.

4. Daenerys Targaryen –  A Song of Ice and Fire – She is my absolute favorite character in this series so far (I’m part way through book 3). She’s fierce and I will admit a bit naive to the reality of ruling from the Iron Throne, she has this innate fire and determination that makes me want her to conquer everything. Plus she has so much grace. After everything she’s been through she finds her strength and refuses to let it go.

5. Cara Devon – The Artifact Hunters – We need more woman like Cara in books. She’s independent, knows how to hold her own, and knows how to handle her fear. I love her relationship with Nate hasn’t tamed her fire at all.

6. Lilah – Benny Imura If you notice most of this list includes women who can use a weapon…Lilah is no different. She will protect what she cares about at any cost. Sure she’s sometimes quick to judge, but in the world of adapt or die she has plenty of reason to.

7. Thor – Thor – AH! I’ve always liked Thor as a comic back when Thor Odinson was Thor…but now that the Thor title has passed to a woman I’m in love.

I’m super picky about the term favorite, so I don’t use it a lot when it comes to characters hence the short list.

  1. LUNA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is my soul! 🙂 If I had done bookish heroines this week, I would have TOTALLY picked her! Also, I really need to read those Thor comics. I keep hearing about them on Panels and EEEE! 🙂

  2. I have so much love for your list. SO MUCH LOVE. As much as I love Hermione, it’s great to see another list with a different Harry Potter lady. 😀 I love Sybella, too – I really need to read my copy of Mortal Heart soon!

Yes to Thor. So much yes! I love Chris Hemsworth as Thor, but I love Thor even more now that a woman’s going to hold the title. Plus it makes all the whiny sexist nerds really mad, and that gives me life.

  3. Lauren says:

Luna, Cress, and Dany – excellent choices!

    Check out my TTT.

  4. Leona says:

Luna is among my favorites, too!
Everyone listed Hermione but quite frankly I always found her annoying. Luna is awesome!

  5. christine danielle says:

thor as a woman is amazing

  6. I’m waiting for Vol1 of the new Thor, can’t get the issues for love nor money here! And paper’s much better than screen for comics, don’t you agree?

  7. Yes, Luna! I have always associated myself with Luna since she first appeared in the series. However, I think I may be more like Professor Trelawny. 😀

  8. Sandra says:

Daenerys Targaryen all the way! She is also my fave character in the series.

  9. Bart says:

Fab list. Luna is such a fun character!

  10. Lilah! I loved reading about her!
    Luna! weirdos unite :]

    Great list!

    My Top Ten :]
