Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Books About Friendship

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

The Beginning of Everything1.  The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider

Ezra reconnects with an old friend from his childhood after his accident.

2. Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld

Alex and Deryn have one of the best friendships. They are hilarious together.

Harry Potter Deathly Hallows

3. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

So now that I’ve put Harry Potter on a lot of lists (while trying not to) I’m just going to embrace the fact that this series pretty much meets all criteria. There are  a ton of friendships in these books, most notably the Golden Trio who stick by each other even at the toughest of times.

The Lord of the Rings

4. The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien

I mean the whole group that goes on this epic journey is called the Fellowship, what better meaning than friends? Of course they didn’t start out as friends but by the end of it all they had forged some pretty amazing friendships.

The Graveyard Book

5. The Graveyard Book by Neil Garman

The Lightning Thief

6. Percy Jackson & The Olympians/Heroes of Olympus by Rick Riordan

7. Breadcrumbs by Anne Ursu

This is a Middle Grade title about a young girl whose best friend becomes distant and then disappears. It’s an incredibly beautiful story centered around their friendship.

The Astounding Adventure of the Ancient Dragon

8. The Astounding Adventure of the Ancient Dragon by Jose Prendes

This is a middle grade retelling of Sherlock, so of course there is a Watson! These two are brilliant together even as young kids.

Darius and Twig

9. Darius & Twig by Walter Dean Myers

This book is literally about a friendship between two boy as well as their dreams to become more than their situation.

Rot and Ruin

10. Benny Imura series by Joanthan Maberry

Okay this is a zombie apocalypse survival type book, but it also centers around the relationships that Benny forms. They are pretty tight knit group and their friendships has survived quite a lot.

  2. Great list, I think Harry Potter is going to be on everybody’s 🙂 Definitely agree with the Benny Imura books, I don’t think the friends would have survived without each other and the support each other no matter what!

  3. I had The Beginning of Everything on my list as well. The Graveyard book is another great example, Leviathan too.

  4. Totally agree with Beginning of Everything, Harry Potter & Percy Jackson! Some great picks here, I still have to read Breadcrumbs.

  7. Nice list! I do like books with some great friendships. Harry Potter really does have some great ones. I’d also say The Perks of Being a Wallflower – love their friendships.

  8. Rot & Ruin! Of course, how come I forgot about that book? I only read the first book in the series, thought it was okay, but the friendship in the book did really stood out. 🙂 Great list.

  9. The Harry Potter series really does have a great friendship. I’ve heard great things about The Beginning of Everything so I’m definitely going to have to check that one out! Plus the cover is absolutely stunning. Great picks!

  10. Yay for LOTR, HP and PJ! I’m glad to see Percy Jackson on a list. I haven’t ready the other books that you mentioned but it looks like I should soon 🙂

  11. Great picks! I love that we have several in common (HP, LOTR) plus one I thought about (Percy Jackson) and one my daughter chose (Leviathan.) I’m having so much fun going around and seeing what everyone picked. And I need to read Breadcrumbs and Leviathan for sure!
