From the makers of Mortal Kombat comes the critically acclaimed prequel comic to the smash hit fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us!
Things in the DC Universe have changed after Superman is tricked into destroying the one thing he loves the most. Now unwilling to let crime go unpunished, the heroes of our world must choose if they are with Superman or against him. But not every country will submit to his new world order and neither will Superman’s greatest threat—Batman!
Injustice is a non-canon prequel to the fighting game of the same name. It’s not necessary to have any knowledge of the game to enjoy this story nor is it required that you read this to enjoy the game, however they are a great duo. This is for those fans who have ever looked at Superman and thought about what would happen if he ever lost it and changed the tides.
These first six issues are the basic story of what Superman has to lose and just how he loses it, there are no all out brawls in the story as of yet. However we do get a few surprises that are well worth the read. My favorite scenes have to do with Harley Quinn and Green Arrow, which was actually the highlight for me. Joker is in fine form as always, cracking jokes and destroying things.
The art-work does leave something to be desired but overall it’s nice. I wish it would have been a bit more solid in the line work though, because some scenes look kind of ‘meh’. Overall it’s a nice looking comic though.
Injustice is a super quick and engaging read, that you don’t really have to worry about getting the storyline straight because it’s non-canon and simply there for fun. I look forward to seeing what the next set of issues will bring.
