So Saturday evening The Little Shop of Stories in Decatur, GA held a launch party for Kat Zhang and her newly released book Once We Were, the sequel to What’s Left of Me.
I went completely clueless of course, because that’s my style…I’ve been so busy I didn’t even think that maybe I should look at Kat’s author page and you know…find out what she looks like. I think I slipped back into my pre-blogging mindset where authors are some faceless gods who rain their precious words upon us, never mind the fact that I was going to meet her. At any rate I had no clue I was standing right beside her for like 10 mins, until something clicked and I was like “Holy crap, that was her!” This is where you smack your foreheads and shake your heads. I’ve even tweeted to her a few times and I suppose if she was a walking pink hat I would have totally recognized her, hehe. At any rate she’s super sweet and I’m glad I got to go.
She talked about how the title process works, the difference in writing a sequel and the finale book, why she feels the hybrid trilogy is more alternate universe than Dystopian, and cover images. Then she was nice enough to sign books.
And she was also awesome enough to bring cake with her book’s picture on it! Which was delicious by the way…in case you were wondering. Forgive me for the weird angle, I didn’t want to get in anyone’s way so I did a sort of side shot.
So for my first launch party I think it was fantastic. I spent a lot of time talking to a friend of Kat’s and one of the store employees who gave me some great tips for the writing process and even made me want to do a writing retreat at some point.
So here are my two pretty new books!
