“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill @ Breaking the Spine where we spotlight books we are eagerly anticipating.

These Broken Stars by Amie Koffman and Meagan Spooner

It’s a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

The first in a sweeping science fiction trilogy, These Broken Stars is a timeless love story about hope and survival in the face of unthinkable odds.

First off I’m not sure if I hate the cover or absolutely love it…I think I would like it more without the people on it though. This one sounds pretty interesting and I’m a bit curious about the planet they land on. (I saw ‘spaceliner’ and immediately thought of Doctor Who).

So what are you waiting on this week?

  1. I had similar thoughts when I first saw the cover: I don’t know if I like it or not. It’s just one of those covers. The book does sound interesting.

I think I like her and the background but the guy is so nondescript and dull, he is the detractor. The book is definitely intriguing though! Thanks for stopping by my WoW! 🙂

  3. This sounds really good. Hope you get to read it soon!

  5. Yes. Can I have this right now because wow! Just the book in looking for at the moment. I see what you mean about the cover though. It’s so pretty, but there’s just something about it that looks unfinished…
